MOT, SPARES AND SERVICING
By law, you must keep any vehicles driven on the road in a roadworthy condition. The MOT test checks that your vehicle meets road safety and environmental standards. It isn’t the same as having your vehicle serviced and doesn’t check its general mechanical condition, so why not take advantage of our special packages for combined Servicing and MOT?
- Europit Tyres boast 3 state-of-the-art MOT centres!
- Call us to book your MOT – we may be able to do it today!
- Combine MOT and Service and save £££s with our package prices!
As approved MOT Test Centres, some Europit branches are able to complete a full service or oil service in conjunction with performing the MOT Test – this ensures your vehicle is in tip-top condition and maximises the chances of a first-time pass! Obviously there will still occasionally be MOT failures due to problems which are not covered by a standard service, but we can usually quote for and repair these too, and we can usually then offer you a low-cost or free re-test depending on circumstances.
The must knows…
You must get an MOT test every year once your vehicle is 3 years old (or 1 year old in some cases – check the MOT fees table to see when). You can then renew your MOT up to a month before it expires. The earliest date you can get your vehicle tested is printed on the pass certificate.
You need to use an approved MOT test centre to get your MOT. Only centres showing the blue sign with 3 white triangles can carry out your MOT. Approved centres must show an official ‘MOT Test: Fees and Appeals’ poster on a public notice board on their premises. This must list contact details for your local VOSA area office.
If your MOT has expired, you can’t drive your vehicle on the road. You could be prosecuted if caught. The only exception is if you’ve already booked an MOT and are driving your vehicle to the test centre.
Overview of the test:
MOT test centres are regulated and licensed by the Department and Transport and VOSA for the purpose, and the individual testers carrying out the inspections also have to be trained and certified. The decision to pass or fail each presented vehicle comes down to the discretion of the tester following the guidelines issued by the VOSA.
The VOSA MOT Test covers the following aspects:
